Approaches to Discussing Suicide and Self Harm

Alasdair Macdonald

There are many perspectives on suicide and on self harming behaviours. This workshop will examine the topic from a variety of perspectives, including that of the therapist, the psychiatrist, the person seeking autonomy and control through self harming behaviour or in terminal illness, and suicide in literature and religion.

There are a variety of tools used by solution-focused and systemic practitioners when suicide or self harm come into the conversation. We shall discuss and practice some of these techniques. Practitioners may bring examples of similar situations from their own practice.

The workshop runs from 10am to 4.30pm at the Hamworthy Club, Magna Road, Canford Magna, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 3AP

Price: £65/£55 for Dacap members, including lunch
